Some people just don't understand the intense bond that forms between dogs and their people. Next time someone makes a comment that shows they don't understand a dog's love, I want to show them this photo.
Leao, a brown mutt, has been sitting vigil at the grave of her human, Cristina Maria Cesario Santana, who was one of 655 to die in the recent mudslides in Brazil. Santana's grave is marked with a simple wooden cross - and her beloved Leao. Photographer Vanderlei Almeida (Agence France Presse/Getty Images) noticed the dog at the grave a few days in a row and snapped these photos. Even in death Leao remains loyal to her human.
I hope she finds a new family to love her, soon.
