 There’s another dog photo contest out right now that has great prizes for both you and for groups that promote dog adoption.
Purina’s Petcentric Dog Show Photo Contest is looking for the “everyday dog” in this new contest. They will be naming winners in 5 different categories of photos:
• Best expression
• Best athlete
• Best troublemaker
• Most loveable
• Best John O’Hurley lookalike (co-host for Purina’s annual Thanksgiving day National Dog Show, better known as J. Peterman on Seinfeld)
You can tell by these categories that this dog photo contest is really about the goofy, lovable things our dogs do every day (and our ability to capture those moments on camera).
The way the contest works is pretty simple. Go to petcentric.com, click “win” and upload a photo to the Dog Show Photo Contest. (They have other monthly contests, but they’re different from this one supporting dog adoption.) For each entry into the contest, Purina will donate a dollar to Adopt-A-Pet.com, up to $50,000. Voting runs through December 30, 2010 and a winner will be named in each category. Each winner will receive a Flip 4GB camcorder and will compete against the other 4 winners for Best of Show. The photo named Best of Show will win a trip for 2 to Aruba and a $5,000 donation from Purina to a shelter in the winner’s community.
This is a fun way to help raise awareness of dog adoption and support Adopt-A-Pet.com. Adopt-A-Pet.com, if you haven’t visited it before, is like a Craigslist of adoptable pets at shelters and rescue groups. You can search by type of animal, location, breed, size, color, age and more. If you’re looking for a new addition to your family, Adopt-A-Pet.com is a great place to start.
