These foods were sold in Kroger stores in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennesee, Texas, Virginia and West Virginia. They were also sold in Dillons and Gerbes stores (Kansas and Missouri), Food 4 Less stores (Nebraska, Illinois and Indiana), Baker’s stores (Nebraska), and Hilander, Jay C, Payless, Owen’s, Scott’s stores (Illinois and Indiana).
These foods are being recalled for possible contamination by aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a natural toxin caused by a common fungus on corn crops. It seems the corn crops used as ingredients in these foods had the fungus and then were used in Kroger's pet foods.
Symptoms of aflatoxin illness are:
• Acting sluggish or lethargic
• No appetite
• Yellow tint on eyes and/or gums
• Bloody or severe diarrhea
If your dog has eaten any of the recalled foods and is exhibiting these symptoms, call your vet immediately.
Kroger is attempting to contact all customers who may have bought these foods through automated phone calls. If you have purchased any of the recalled foods, discontinue use immediately and return it to the store for a full refund or replacement.
